Description

Name: Lyaksandro

Age: 24

Gender: Manly man

Species: Swellow

Nature: Impish

Summary Characteristic: Somewhat of a Clown

Class: Fighter

Edition: Special

Accessories: He's got this key in his back. It's a little cumbersome, but it leaves an unpleasant-looking hole in his back if he takes it out. He leaves it in in deference to others, but he sometime takes it out in order to fly. He'll also use it as a cane, baseball bat, etc. Ly's mechanisms still work, so if you turn it with enough force, his feet start moving.

-Ly is outwardly a perfect soldier. He gives as good as he’s got, and if given an order, will snap into a perfect salute. Then after you leave, he’ll go back to whatever he was doing. It’s not that he dislikes authority. In fact, he holds a certain affection for those in charge. Oh, he might not-so-subtly mock them to their faces (“Permission to grovel at your feet, SIR!’), and short sheet their beds, but it’s his oddball way of showing he cares. To Ly, teasing and affection are one and the same. So heaven have mercy on you if you let it slip to Ly you have a crush on someone. You will be treated to an endless round of “Sally and Jamie, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!~” If you have name that Ly likes, you will hear it twisted into several bizarre nicknames. Olivia will quickly become Ollie, Oli-ole, Liv-a-lots, Luvie-Wuvie, and so on. If someone gets annoyed at him, Ly will calmly smile at them and walk at away, looking for the next interesting thing.
And to tell the truth, that’s how Ly views people. Oh, he’s courteous for the most part, excluding the occasional tease, but when you talk to him, you get the sense he’s sizing you up, deciding if you’re amusing or not. If you are, Ly likes you and will simultaneously be polite and annoying as heck. If not, you will receive a special rendition of “I am a perfect soldier so you do not need to bother me.” It’s a little condescending honestly.
When it comes to friends, Ly prefers what the mathematical sociologists among us call “the weak tie”. What you would consider an acquaintance, Ly would call a friend. He’s happy to have his buddies at arm’s length.
He gives the impression of a soldier on leave, who's only got a short time to have fun and is willing to pack it all in. He jumps in puddles like a small boy, and likes to emphasize random words when he talks. He'll slide into a high-pitched voice just for kicks, or hop backwards in excitement. He's a young child in his actions, and a laid-back adult in his nature.

History:

So this kid, Alexander, he decides to take up a hobby. One involving strange chemicals and small sharp bits of metal and talcum powder…What? No! Model-making! Geez, what kind of mind do you have?
Anyway, Alexander started out on this somewhat dangerous hobby and his first attempt at making a tin man comes out kinda funny looking. More like a bird than a man. So after pitching a hissy fit and sulking about it, he decides to go with it and paints up the figure to look like a soldier. He fits it with a spring mechanism and a key. The whole thing.
Now, Lt. Lyaksandro Vasilenkov, as the soldier was named, was only the first in a long line of tin soldiers created by the kid. After each one was made and modeled, they were placed on the shelf, all lined up right behind Ly. Even though they weren’t played with, it was enough for them to be admired by Alexander’s friends and dusted off on occasion. Lyaksandro in particular had made up a game to play inside his little tin head. It was called “Make lots of fun of Alexander”.
Because, situated on that high shelf, the tin soldiers could see all the terrible hardships that went on in poor Alexander’s life.
“Alexander, hon, can you take out the garbage please?”
“Gah, NO, Mom! You overwork me! I can’t deal with this! You are so the worst!”
Or
“Hey, Alexander, can you do a little raking out in the front?”
“DAD, DAD, DAD! You don’t get me! You’re repressing me! I need my FREEDOM!”
And then poor abused Alexander would slam his door in all his adolescent glory, flop onto his custom-made racecar bed, throw off his designer hoodie, and loudly complain about his out-of-touch, horrible parents. I mean, they only gave him 20 bucks allowance a month!
“Peanuts!”, Ly would think, “Poor baby!”
When Alexander would throw a tantrum of how his parents were the WORST, that they didn’t get him those sneakers he wanted, Ly would gleefully spear him in his thoughts.
“Aw, Allie! You NEED those sneakers! They match your Boba Fett underwear perfectly.”
So on, so forth.
Lyaksandro didn’t really know how the other toy soldiers felt or thought, but to him, people were the ultimate in entertainment. From the moment he was out of the mold, he had an intrinsic interest in watching folks. From watching wild Alexander’s drama, to his dad’s habit of sneaking gin behind the tool bench (he had a view out the window), Ly was hugely fascinated. He especially loved to watch Alxander’s grandfather.
Grandpa would come over and ask to see Alexander’s soldiers. He himself had a short stint in the army, but had received a blow to the side of his head that caused his body to shake. It was during these times that Alexander would become quiet and Ly respectful. Lyaksandro would be turned over and over, his key wound up and rubbed by those shaking, unsteady hands. Then Grandpa would put him down and tell Alexander to use his talent in the best possible way. Alexander would silently nod his head, and Ly’s admiration would grow for this man who could get some respect out of this kid. Ly stills holds the elderly in high regard.
Alexander would sometimes invite his friend, also named Alexander, over. But honestly, this Alex was a less than vigorous personality and would complacently watch TV in Alexander’s room for the entire duration of his visit. Lyaksandro was happy with this, because that meant he’d be getting a chance to watch baseball. He and Alex both rooted for the same teams, so Ly got to see quite a lot of games from his favorite team. He loved and loves baseball, and it was the one thing he wished he could do, sitting dusty on that shelf. That TV brought a lot of joy and regret to Ly, but he was still happy Alexander had whined to get it.
After Alexander’s wonderful display of the power of teenage mood swings, he would get back to his models, or texting his air-head girlfriend or whatever. The point was, that Ly saw all this and learned it was better to choose the path of least resistance. Alexander would waste all that energy on blowing his top, then end up doing whatever he wanted. Not that Ly could actually do anything, but he figured that if he could, he’d pretend to agree with whatever was told to him, then go off and do his own thing.
Sometime later in the year, Alexander answered the door to a plain-looking man. He asked politely if anybody in the house would be willing to donate any toys for a scientific study. Alexander hesitated, then asked the obvious.
“Why don’t you just BUY the toys?”
The man froze.
“Uhh…….to…save…mon-ey?”
Alexander shrugged, then donated his tin soldiers on a whim. His bubble-headed girlfriend thought they were silly anyway.
Ly went through the system like all the other toys, and ended up on the other side, fully mobile and wanting out. He was put into the care of a man, let’s call him Edgar, for special supervision. He was a little different from the others, having been made from tin, not cloth, so he was regulated differently. Thankfully, Edgar was an easily amused man, and Ly picked up on that. He’d avoid the tests by dancing and singing weird songs, by pretending to be an announcer at an invisible baseball game. Edgar would clap and hoot with laughter, wanting to see more out of this little thing. This would go on for a while, until his supervisor would check in on him, and Ed would get back to work making Ly less than happy. Ly came to regard Edgar with a certain amount of amusement and condescendence, and Ed was simply delighted with his little subject’s antics. So, the subject and subjecter approached each other as objects of entertainment.
Ly’s chance came when there was a great big breakout. He wasted no time flying out after the others, but not before giving Edgar a nice sloppy kiss for laughs.

Extras: ......He likes girly pop music, but regards girls….okay, he’s downright myogenic. He doesn’t really think girls are capable of much, but they’re fun to watch when you jump out their closets and freak them out. Ly adores blowing bubbles, but that’s a pastime he reserves for himself, and often hides when he’s doing so.
His greatest wish is for Zaphary to have their own baseball team. He loves, loves, LOVES the game, and it is a huge source of regret he’s too small to actually play it. His baseball cap is actually from a Magbaby Ruth figurine. Relax, it wasn't alive.
